This coaching option involves one on one, in person coaching sessions that are structured around the specific outcomes that the leader wants to achieve from coaching.
The EICTP is an intensive training and coaching program for leaders who aspire to develop their emotional intelligence (EI) competencies.
Assessment tools can provide invaluable insights for an individual who is focused on building their development plan or enhancing their performance.
A coaching engagement is a partnership between client and coach in support of the client's growth and development objectives.
We collaboratively explore at the outset what you want to achieve from coaching and the impact you are striving for in order to map out a personalized coaching plan with defined outcomes. We incorporate any insights gained from assessment tools that offer further perspective on opportunities for growth (more on assessments below). Your coaching objectives are documented, which ensures we are focused on the outcomes you want to achieve and allows you to measure progress. As sessions continue, often goals and objectives evolve and may change so they are revisited on a continuous basis.
One on one coaching sessions are structured and aligned to your objectives so that the time you invest in coaching is focused and productive.
In my coaching model, an agenda is set for each session that links to the client’s goals and objectives, brings in prior session themes that the client wishes to continue focusing on and tracks accountabilities that the client has committed to. This provides direction and ensures progress, making the time invested productive for the client. Session agendas are entirely driven by the client so they decide where to take the discussion on a given day to ensure the highest and best use of the time and that the achieve the outcomes they need for our time together.
Results Focused Coaching Model
The client determines exactly how they want to structure their coaching time but sessions are typically an hour and the frequency of sessions is every 2-3 weeks, depending on their needs. The total number of sessions is flexible and set by the client in accordance with the outcomes they want to achieve.
Sessions are done by video conference in the comfort of your home or office. This method of connection, while remote, has shown to facilitate being attuned and focused during the conversation. For clients in the Prince Edward County area, in person sessions are an option.
My coaching certification is through Goleman EI, specializing in Daniel Goleman’s globally recognized work in emotional intelligence. I am proud to have been a part of the first cohort of trained coaches in the inaugural launch of the program to bring the critical learnings to leaders.
As a coachee/student of the Emotional Intelligence Coaching and Training Program (EICTP), you will be immersed in EI learning paths that are complemented by guided journaling and short, mindfulness practices. The program is a deep dive over 12-weeks into Goleman EI's Foundational Skills and Relationship Skills course (through his company KeyStepMedia). Biweekly coaching sessions are integrated into this program, along with assessment that is designed to provide a baseline for our coaching partnership.
The EICTP is a structured, transformational learning journey that supports you as you practice shifting ingrained habits and building new ones that better serve your aims. As your EI certified coach, I work with you to develop EI habits that deepen your professional and personal relationships, unlock your career potential and improve your well-being.
Why Is Emotional Intelligence Important?
- from KeyStepMedia.com
Learn > Each day, you will have access to an online learning platform where you will watch a brief video or read a brief article about EI.
Apply > You will experiment and gain facility with what EI looks and feels like in the real world by directly applying what you have learned about at an intellectual level.
Reflect & Journal > By reflecting and journaling about what you’ve learned, you develop a working knowledge of EI in a way that integrates your intellectual and your experiential understanding. This allows you to see the habits of mind that keep you stuck.
This model makes it possible to develop EI competencies in a lasting way. It gives you a practical framework to practice each new skill that you learn about, which is key to building any new habit.
Assessments can be invaluable tools for our self-development. A 360 assessment tool that includes peers, direct reports and other key stakeholders offers the gift of awareness of how a leader is perceived by others relative to their own perspective. A behaviour self-assessment measures an individual's motivating drivers and needs, delivering a succinct report that enhances awareness and understanding.
I work specifically with assessments that focus on leadership, emotional intelligence, work/communication style and energy/motivation. They include:
